Mr. Cutshaw's Class
Hello Third Graders and Families!
Welcome to our class page! I hope you're all doing well and staying healthy. As we navigate this interesting time, just like you, I'm learning new things. I know that this is a crazy time. You're probably getting really antsy and wishing you could get out and about! My family and I are feeling the same way. We're trying to stay active and busy. Hopefully, this will all be over soon!
A little bit about this page and remote learning moving forward...
You will want to bookmark this class webpage so you can come here often to check the events calendar for Zoom/Flipgrid meeting times and my “office hours” when you can ask me questions while you work. I will update the page as needed and add things here and there as they are relevant. The links to Google Classroom, Clever, Zoom, Flipgrid, etc. are located on my Remote Learning page.
Each week, I will post lessons, directions, and assignments in Google Classroom. During this time, you will be doing a lot of your work independently. I will give you plenty of time to get assignments done, and will hold daily “office hours” when I'll be available to answer questions and give clarification. I will also share a Google Slide show with you that will let you know what needs to be done each day.
Attendance will be taken based on work completion on a weekly basis. Also, you will need to fill out a Google form by writing your name so I know you're working that day. I would hope and expect that you will log in each day to maintain some sort of routine and stay on top of your work. I know that all your days may not have a typical routine like you would if you were coming to school. You and a sibling may have to share a device, or you may have other chores and things to do. So you will all be logging in and working on things at different times that work for your family.
It's a good idea to try and set a schedule of some kind when you will be doing your schoolwork. You will also want to set up a school area where you have all your materials and where you won't be distracted by things going on around you. This will help you to get into school mode and stay focused on your work.
Each day, I will have "office hours" when I will be available for questions and clarification. During these times, I will open up a Google Chat window and will be standing by for questions that you can ask there. Of course, you can always email me or send me messages on Class Dojo as well. In addition, we will have Zoom/Flipgrid meetings at least once a week for a connection circle and to say hello, ask questions, and chat.
Office Hours: Monday and Wednesday: 8:00-9:00 a.m., 2:00-3:00 p.m., with a Zoom/Flipgrid meeting on Mondays at 2:30; Tuesday and Thursday: 10:00-12:00 with a Zoom/Flipgrid meeting on Thursdays at 11:30; Friday 8:00-9:00 a.m., 1:00-2:00 p.m.
I know that this is all pretty overwhelming. I'm here for you! We will go slow and figure this all out together! Talk to you soon!
