Mrs. Clouse's Class
Welcome to first grade! This is going to be an amazing year. In first grade, your child will experience a year full of learning and growing academically, socially and emotionally. I am excited to spend this time with your child. Here you will find helpful information about our first grade class such as: monthly newsletters, notification on class events, reference documents and ways to help support your child’s learning at home. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

REMOTE LEARNING INFORMATION
As we begin remote learning, please remember that this is a new experience for all of us. I am here to support you and your child.
The following outlines how our online classroom will work. Weekly resources and tasks for students to complete will be emailed to families on Sunday of each week. The expectation is that students complete tasks by Friday of each week (unless a specific date is given). By assigning tasks in this manner, I hope it will provide some flexibility for families.
Office Hours: I will be available from 8:00-9:00 am and 2:00-3:00 pm Monday-Friday to respond to email messages.
Attendance: As always, we want students to be engaging with their learning each and every day. We know this will look different than what our traditional school looks like, but even remotely, we want students to participate in learning regularly. The goal is that students are logging in daily to work Monday-Friday. However, we understand how difficult that may be during this time and understand if you need to adjust your student's schedule to fit your family's needs. The main concern is that students are completing their weekly workload. Parents, if your student is unable to participate on a particular day of learning, you can let us know, and please reach out immediately if you need any type of support or help for your students. Most importantly, please know we will continue to monitor attendance regularly and may contact you if we don’t hear from you.
Note: In first grade, students will be counted as “attending” based on evidence of completion of learning activities.
Grading: Grading Policies will be schoolwide for the duration of our Remote Learning experience. Classroom teachers will select which grading mode will best suit the assignment. Students will be graded on an assignment in one of the following ways:
Standards based grading scoring the 1-4 model we use on report cards
A rubric that details specific elements on a continuum
A percentage score up to 100%
