REMOTE LEARNING INFORMATION
Hello Prairie Hills family!
With the unprecedented times that we are all experiencing, PHE will now be starting our PE from home program! This means I will have lots of activities and videos for you to do to help you stay active! This will look much different than our regular PE classes, but it will be a new and exciting experience for us. Being home, it is essential that ALL of us (students, teachers, parents) are physically active both for our mental health and physical well being.
During a normal PE class, we focus on developing skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship for a minimum of 45 minutes. Most of our activities involve working with others. However, because of the Coronavirus, I'm asking that you ONLY do these activities with your family at home or by yourself. I am suggesting that you pick 1 or 2 of the activity ideas and spend 20-30 minutes each day being physically active. Feel free to spend longer if you'd like or are able to. I realize you will have other school work as well, so just do your best. If you can get outdoors and do the activity safely, please do so. Fresh air is so good for our health!
I've focused on making the activities fun, exciting, and joyful for you and your family so it should be easy to challenge yourself! Many activities will involve a video showing the activity or a description of the activity. Please be safe and don't break anything! Some of these games/activities may require a small amount of equipment. I realize that each family is dealing with this time differently, so if you don't have access to any equipment, improvise the best you can or skip the equipment all together. The idea here is that you move your body safely and have fun doing it! The expectation is that you will be active each day.

Welcome to Mr. Sousa's online classroom at Prairie Hills Elementary. Physical education at PHE is set up to get kids moving and active! Each day, the students will engage in physical activity appropriately designed for their developmental level. Students will develop fundamental movement skills that are locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative. Students will also learn safe practices, adherence to rules and procedures, etiquette, cooperation and teamwork, ethical behavior in sports, and positive social interaction.
Students are graded/assessed based on the following physical education standards:
-Movement Competence and Understanding
-Physical and Personal Wellness
-Emotional and Social Wellness
-Prevention and Risk Management
