First Place at District Battle of the Books!
On April 29, 2019, our Prairie Hills 5th grade winning team placed first in Adams 12 Elementary District Battle of the Books. There were 27 elementary schools participating in this battle. As the rounds of competition progressed, the Prairie Hills team won six battles in a row to become the First Place District Champions! Each member of our Prairie Hills district team earned trophy for their achievement. This is the first time Prairie Hills has won the District Battle. Way to go!
What is Battle of the Books?
Battle of the Books is a trivia competition based on a list of ten novels selected by teacher librarians and other Battle of the Books sponsors. Students read the books, form teams, and then compete to see who can correctly answer more trivia questions based on these books. This year Battle of the Books involved 27 schools and over 700 students. Student teams compete at their schools, then the winning team is sent to District Championship Battle. District Battle is tournament-style and teams compete until all the teams are eliminated except one.
