About us
Prairie Hills is more than a school—it is a community! A community where we value and foster the limitless potential of our students and staff by creating a learning environment where curiosity, critical thinking, and belonging ensure every student thrives.
Our collaborative staff establishes an environment where every student is known, challenged, and supported, with great expectations and high-quality instruction that meets learners where they are academically, socially, and emotionally. Through deep study in the Science of Reading, inquiry-based mathematics, gifted and talented practices, and hands-on collaborative learning, students build 21st century skills- confidence, resilience, and the ability to think critically- for the future they choose. Learning opportunities at Prairie Hills extend beyond the classroom through rich experiences—including field trips, leadership experiences, service learning, clubs, and extracurricular activities—to help students stay curious and discover their strengths and passions.
Thinking is at the heart of everything we do. Students develop strong habits of mind through Thinking Maps, Depth and Complexity, and Building Thinking Classrooms routines that help them organize ideas, make connections, ask thoughtful questions, and solve problems collaboratively. Student voice is intentionally centered through discussion and reflection, empowering learners to explain their thinking, consider multiple perspectives, and engage in meaningful academic conversations. These practices strengthen achievement and foster a culture of academic and social student belonging.
Our culture is grounded in the Lark PRIDE Traits of Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dreams to Achieve, and Empathy, which are woven into daily learning, goal setting, and relationships. Through PBIS and the Second Step curriculum, students learn positive behavior, social-emotional skills, and the importance of caring for themselves and others. Our outstanding families, PTA, community partners, and staff work side by side to create joyful experiences that make school a place students love to be. Student leadership opportunities—including National Elementary Honor Society, PHE’s Student Leadership, No Place for Hate Club, and Playworks Jr. Coaches—empower students to lead with kindness, service, and school pride. Celebration is an important and purposeful part of the student experience, creating joy and honoring growth, effort, and achievement, including weekly positive office referrals, Lark Pride Awards, and Soaring Scholar celebrations recognizing growth, achievement, and character.
From Back-to-School Bash, One School One Book, Field Day, Summer Library, Talent Show, and family engagement nights, our schoolwide traditions unite us in building bright futures and helping every student feel seen, celebrated, and ready to take flight. Welcome to Prairie Hills- we can't wait for you to join us!
