I am very excited to be teaching 3rd grade at Prairie Hills Elementary this year! This is my 6th year teaching here in Adams 12, with my last 5 years being at Rocky Mountain Elementary. Before moving to Colorado, I taught a 1st through 3rd grade multi-age class in Flagstaff, Arizona and I also taught 3rd grade in Malawi, Africa.
One of my hobbies and passions in teaching is technology. One of the ways I have implemented technology this year was by doing what is known as the “Flipped Classroom”, specifically in mathematics. This model inverts traditional teaching methods, delivering instruction online at home while "homework" is done in the classroom. It’s an exciting way to teach and the students love the freedom to move at their own pace. Other examples of technology I’m using this year include Class Dojo, MasteryConnect, Schoology, IXL and TenMarks. It’s amazing how quickly students take on new forms of learning.
A little about myself; I have been married to my amazing wife Julie for over 10 years. We have 4 children, ages 6 to 6 weeks. Our oldest is a 1st grader at PHE and it’s wonderful to be at the same school with him this year. My wife and I are both originally from California, but now are happy to call Colorado "home". We enjoy the outdoors and spending time together as a family, with friends and serving in our church. As mentioned before, I love technology as well as fly fishing and backpacking up in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
