Welcome to first grade. I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher. I began working at Prairie Hills in 2004, when I had a first grade class. Through the years, I have moved classrooms and have taught either first or second grade. If you were to ask me which grade is my favorite, I would say whichever grade I am teaching. I love my job!
After graduating from Loretto Heights College with a double major in elementary education and special education, I embarked on my career in 1984 in a second grade classroom at Assumption Catholic School. I later moved to St. Peter and Paul school, also with second grade. When I first joined the District 12 Schools, it was as a Chapter I teacher at Coronado Hills. It was my job to improve the writing skills for 40 at-risk students across the grades 1 – 6. After that, I called Malley Drive home for 14 years. There I taught kindergarten, first, second and third grades.
When I am not at school, I share my life with my husband, Don, and our 5 children. Our oldest son and his wife and daughter just moved back to Colorado from Washington, D.C. Our second son lives in Denver while he pursues a career in education. Our last son finished his course work to earn an EMT license and will continue on to be a paramedic. Our two teenage daughters, adopted from China, fill our home with laughter, music, adventures and books. I am intent on scrapbooking our lives together while my husband traces our roots with his genealogy hobby.
